Community Rules
Last updated: October 2026
Gather is a table, not a feed. Real recipes, real plates, real cooks. By sharing a recipe,
a photo, or a cook note you agree to these rules. There is no tolerance for objectionable
content; anything that breaks these rules is removed and the chef name behind it can be hidden
for good.
Share what is yours to share
- Share recipes you cook. Credit the source when it came from somewhere else; the app keeps the
source line for you.
- Photos must be of the dish, taken by you. No stock photos, no screenshots of other people's
plates, no pictures of people.
- Do not share anything you do not have the right to share.
Keep it about the food
- Cook notes are tips about cooking the dish: swaps, timing, results. Not chat, not ads, not
contact details.
- No sexual content, hate, harassment, threats, or anything illegal, anywhere, including in
chef names.
- No spam, no links, no promotion.
One chef name each
- Pick a name that is not a slur, not someone else's name, and not pretending to be Makmak
staff. Names starting with "Makmak" are reserved.
- Do not try to pump your own numbers. The app refuses a maker's own cook taps, and counts that
look gamed are removed.
What happens when something breaks a rule
Every recipe, photo, note and name is screened automatically before it appears, and recipes are
also reviewed by a person. Anyone can report a recipe or a note from inside the app; one report
hides it until it is reviewed. You can also hide everything from a chef on your own device. We
remove content and hide chefs that break these rules, and we act on reports within a day.
